Natural Pink Diamonds
The rarity of natural pink diamonds and pink diamond jewellery, coupled with an increase in worldwide demand, make them increasingly valuable. They occur naturally in a number of different shades, from faint pink to fancy vivid pink. The more intense the colour, the more valuable the diamond. Additionally, pink diamonds often come with a secondary colour hue, such as purplish, rosé and champagne pink. This can be seen in our pink diamond rings in Perth. Thomas Meihofer can source natural pink diamonds according to our client’s preferences on request.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why are diamonds recommended for jewellery?
Above all other gemstones, diamonds are the hardest and most durable. This makes diamonds ideal for engagement and wedding rings, which are worn on a daily basis. If treated with care they can even be handed down to be loved by future generations.
Does Thomas Meihofer make jewellery with lab grown diamonds?
While the diamonds in our collection are all natural diamonds, we also custom design jewellery with lab grown diamonds if you prefer.
What is the difference between a natural and a lab grown (synthetic) diamond?
Natural Diamonds
Natural diamonds are the hardest naturally occurring substance on earth and one of the oldest gemstones on the planet. Formed millions to billions of years ago deep within the earth by the rare event of carbon atoms crystallising under extreme temperatures and pressure and transported to the surface by volcanic eruptions. Natural diamonds are rare, unique and valuable.
Lab Grown Diamonds
Lab grown diamonds are synthetic, man-made diamonds which are produced in factories in large quantities over a number of weeks. Lab grown diamonds have the same chemical composition, optical and physical properties as natural diamonds, however specialised gemmological instruments can detect differences between natural and lab grown diamonds. So, while lab grown diamonds look almost identical to the eye, the internal structure is not the same.
How can you tell if a diamond is natural or synthetic?
The best way to find out if the diamond is natural or synthetic is to ask the jeweller for a grading report. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading report confirms if a diamond is natural in addition to grading the diamond for colour, clarity proportions and more. Our natural diamonds are GIA certified and inscribed with the report number, ensuring you get an authentic natural diamond. Similarly, lab grown diamond grading reports from the International Grading Institute (IGI) confirm the specifications of lab grown diamonds.
Why is there such a large price difference between natural and lab grown diamonds?
Natural diamonds were formed over 100 million years ago inside the earth’s crust under unique conditions. They are rare and of great value.
While lab grown diamonds possess the same optical and physical properties, they are produced in large quantities and are not a rare gemstone, therefore the price is a fraction of that of a natural diamond.
