  • The size and quality of the diamond is the most significant factor in the price of an engagement ring. There are four features that determine the worth of a diamond: its cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. These features are explained in more detail here
  • We recommend using platinum or 18ct white, yellow or rose gold in your engagement ring. Traditionally, platinum being the purest and rarest of the metals was higher price than gold jewellery, however, recently the gold price has increased significantly, so there is currently only a slight difference in price between platinum and 18ct gold jewellery. So, the metal chosen for your engagement ring currently doesn’t have a great impact on the price.
  • The number and size of diamonds in addition to your main diamond will also affect the price of your engagement ring. Each small diamond needs to be matched and set perfectly in order to achieve the quality and consistency that we demand of each Thomas Meihofer piece.
